An Orange County firefighter was sent to the hospital after working to put out a fire at a church west of Orlando Tuesday evening.
In a social media post, Orange County Fire Rescue said the fire caused a roof collapse, but crew members were able to safely remove the firefighter from the building at 10 North Hiawassee Road.
The building was evacuated and the firefighter was transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center without serious injury, according to the post. No one else was sent to the hospital.
By 9:40 p.m. fire rescue crews were checking to determine that no fire extensions remained at the scene, OCFR said.
